The cutting of the cake is an iconic wedding moment. It is considered the first task the newlyweds do together and is often captured by the photographer as a symbol of unity. It is the most extravagant dessert you will ever buy and will be a forever-lasting memory.

That’s why our wedding cakes are much more than just a cake. They are uniquely beautiful pieces of edible art designed especially for you that will be sure to awe your guests from first sight until the moment you cut your first slice.

 

 
 
 

HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU SPEND ON YOUR WEDDING cake?

Just like engagement rings, wedding dresses, floral arrangements, you name it, the price of wedding cakes can vary enormously. 

Flour, butter, eggs, and sugar are not what determines the price of a wedding cake. The value is in the artistry. Like anything custom-made, the most valuable components are the time it takes to design and make something unique for you, the quality of the work, and, most importantly, the level of expertise involved in executing everything perfectly.

A truly bespoke wedding cake cannot be purchased off the shelf. Top-quality wedding cake making is a time-consuming, highly skilled process. It is like creating a piece of art.

Initially, we carefully consider your wedding day's various aesthetic components. We combine your taste and style with ours to briefly summarize your overall design.

We will then provide a sketch of your design that will perfectly complement the look and feel of your day.

Next, we prepare the decorations. Preparing some of the most intricate decorations can take days or weeks, especially our life-like wafer paper flowers, which are hand-made, petal by petal, leaf by leaf.

As we get closer to your big day, every mouth-watering tier is baked from scratch in our studio using the finest quality ingredients.

Finally, we personally transport your cake from our studio to your venue and assemble it carefully. All of this is priced into the final cost.

The following is an approximate price guide. There are endless possibilities when it comes to sizes, shapes, and decorative details, which can affect the price of the cake. This will be discussed in detail during a consultation/via email.

The prices above are based on generous 6" tall round tiers, with four layers of sponge cake and three layers of light and fluffy Swiss meringue buttercream. Designs usually begin with a 4" or 5” diameter top tier, while the dimensions of the other tiers will depend both on the design and the number of portions required.

A beautiful stand makes all the difference when it comes to displaying your cake. We have an optional cake stand rental service with two classic styles, all white and classic wooden. We highly recommend this option as it helps complete the cake.

A delivery and assembly cost of $300.00 applies to HK Island venues. Outside of this area, delivery and assembly will be calculated on the distance between our studio and your venue.

 
 

 

PORTIONS

Wedding cakes are generally cut into three specific portion sizes. ‘Wedding portions’ are chosen when serving their cake with other desserts. ‘Dessert portions’ are selected when serving the cake as the main dessert. ‘Bite size’ are most often selected to taste all the different flavors from the night.

All our cakes are filled with our silky buttercream and finished with a layer of white chocolate ganache with a very thin layer of fondant. This ensures multi-tiered cakes are structurally stable, especially during the warmer months, and provides a clean blank canvas for decorations.

We do not make ‘naked/semi-naked’ cakes.

OUR STYLE

We generally focus on floral and textural designs. We try to provide timeless elegance and a show-stopping piece of artwork.

However, we don’t use any fresh flowers for our cakes. If you’d like, check out Flower Actually, as they have wonderful flowers and may be able to assist you with the arrangement on a cake and provide beautiful bouquets and floral decor for your big day!

Lead - Time

We usually recommend 3-6 months’ notice. All the intricate details require a good amount of time to create. In order to create a smooth process for our clients, we would recommend contacting us as soon as your wedding date is secured.

CAKE FLAVORS

We offer 19 mouth-watering flavors that will ensure that they please everyone. We use classic sponge-based layered with silky and soft buttercreams. You can check out our flavors here.

DUMMY TIERS

A dummy tier can be added to elevate your cake design. It is made from lightweight Styrofoam and decorated in the same way as a sponge cake.

Dummy tiers can be added for extra height or drama without wasting cake. It can sometimes help keep costs lower. However, since most of the cost is in planning, designing, and decorating your cake, dummy tiers may not reduce the price significantly.

Generally, dummy tiers are available for cakes larger than 2 tiers.

DELIVERY

Delivery fees will be determined by the distance between your venue and our studio in Wong Chuk Hang and the amount of time needed for assembly.

Generally, most wedding cakes under 4-tiers are transported fully assembled and do not require much setup time at the venue.

Larger cakes are transported semi-assembled and finished at the venue or may require full assembly at the venue. Cakes with complex structures and/or logistically challenging venues will require an additional person to help deliver your cake.

CAKE STANDS

A cake stand can be rented at HK$150 to display your wedding cake, and a security deposit of HK$2000 is tied to it. The security deposit will be fully refunded when the cake stand is returned to us in its original condition at our studio within 3 days after your event. A surcharge of HK$50 per day will be applied for any late return. 

DEPOSITS AND BOOKING FEES

To lock down dates, we require a non-refundable and non-transferable deposit of $3000.00 to secure your booking. This will be deducted from your final balance.

The remainder of the balance is due 4 weeks before your wedding date.

CAKE TASTING

We have a cake-tasting box available for clients. Clients can choose up to 5 flavors.

The boxes are priced at HKD $500 - $650 and can be picked up at our Wong Chuk Hang Studio or Central Office. They can also be delivered to you at an additional cost.

We also have in-house cake-tasting sessions, It is $500. Clients can choose up to 3 flavors. Cake-tasting sessions usually last for 1 hr. During the session, please feel free to bring any references or ideas to help us get to know you!
